Approximately 3 years ago, this August, my very enthusiastic and spontaneous husband turns to me as says 'I think its time we buy another home and renovate'.. I look at him dump founded.. Here we are, still getting use to being parents with our beautiful daughter Imogen Hope (she was 8 months old at the time), down to one wage, just started our plumbing business and living in our brand new, 4 bedroom home, which was totally complete.. And he wants to renovate!!..
But looking back on it now.. I am really glad I married him.. because now we have a home which we love.. and every wall I look at I know it was our own sweat and tears that created it..
So today on Jode Designs I would like to share with you our journey of renovating the house we now call home.. This is part one of our journey.. I will leave part two (the extension) for another week!! (cheeky, I know).. I hope you enjoy..
Well this is what we started with .. I very run down beach shack with sloping floors!!
We converted the existing carport into our entrance and an extra living area (now my studio).. And yes that is my sexy hubby to the left!!..

We completely ripped out the old kitchen, put a new window in and started from scratch..

We knocked down the wall between the existing living room and carport (gee what a stress reliever that can be!!) and put a new sliding door out onto the deck..

We got rid of the existing bathroom, separate toilet and laundry.. knocked down a few walls and converted it into a large bathroom and hallway leading out to the 'one day' extension..

This, I have to say, was one of the most intense renovations I have ever done.. We only had a 4 week window to complete the project (We had put our other house up for rent). We had a 9 month old baby and were running our new plumbing business.. Most days were spent packing up and cleaning the other home up, running around frantically for supplies and working.. then nights we hung plaster, painted, and planned out the next day all while singing lullabies to get our daughter to sleep.. But it was all worth it in the end!!
Hope you enjoyed the tour..
Loved this post!! Thanks for the tour. Look forward to seeing the extensions.
